What Do You Do? We are a General Contractor; our company has its roots in residential construction. We’ve completed projects ranging from high-end custom homes, to additions, kitchen remodels, building decks, and even a luxury doghouses to be auctioned for charity!
We also excel in restoration carpentry. Most recently we rehabilitated and rebuilt the Knowlton House in Ipswich, salvaging materials and designs from the original 1725 home. Check out our Publications section for more details!
T.E. Whyte Construction also subcontracts to larger General Contractors. In the past we’ve worked for companies such as Shawmut Construction and Design, Hamilton Construction Management, and Cranshaw Construction. Whether framing, siding, or finish carpentry, we have a crew fit for the stages of work you need.
Do You Have Insurance? Yes. You will receive a copy of our liability and worker’s compensation certificates before the commencement of your project.
Do You Have a Designer On Staff? We have well established business relationships with a number of local architects. We will introduce you to one of our local designers who will work closely with you and T.E. Whyte Construction to develop the plans for your project. This is often referred to as the Design-Build process.
For clients who have their own designer, we will bid the job from the existing plans and continue to provide you with our usual quality service throughout the remainder of the construction process.
Why choose the Design-Build Option? Many clients prefer this option because it saves them time, money, and frustration. T.E. Whyte Construction automatically provides a discount to clients who decide to use the Design-Build process because we have great confidence in the architects and designers we do business with.
After you’ve met with our recommended architect or designer, they will develop preliminary plans based on your discussion; taking into consideration your tastes and budget, as well as all spatial restrictions and building code requirements. We receive copies of the preliminary drawings and provide you with a preliminary price. This gives an early indication of the total cost of your project and allows ample time for changes prior to the commencement of construction.
Finally, we build your home from frame to finish, and we don’t consider your project complete until we’ve washed the windows, vacuumed the carpets, and handed you the keys to the door.
How do I know where to order things like flooring, cabinets, and fixtures? We’ve be doing business in the Northeast for many years. We have established business relationships with several local suppliers. We’ll help you choose the best options for your ideas and your budget. Our staff will be by your side to help keep track of all the finishes you select, such as flooring, cabinets, and fixtures, and to make sure you have answers to any questions regarding available product options.
What about permits? T.E. Whyte Construction will handle applying for all necessary permits.
Is my job too small for you? No job is too small. Provided we can work our schedule around yours, we’d be happy to help. Besides, we’re confident that you will be satisfied with our performance and will call us back for your future projects or recommend our company to someone you know.
